Adult Discipleship

One of the core values of St. Andrew’s Community Church is INTENTIONAL DISCIPLESHIP. No one accidentally follows Jesus just like no one accidentally gets in shape. Discipleship is an intentional investment to KNOW Jesus, GROW in relationship with Him and GO out and share the Good News with others.

We are committed to growing as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ and offer a variety of ways throughout the year to help accomplish that goal. From weekly BIBLE STUDIES, to MIDWEEK, to a variety of SUNDAY SCHOOL options, we invite you to get plugged in and take intentional steps in becoming more like Christ. If you have questions or are looking for a way to connect and grow in your faith, contact Rev. Josh Coats, our Pastor of Discipleship, at 405.692.4242 or jcoats@saokc.org. Below is a list of our discipleship opportunities for adults.

BIBLE STUDIES

We offer a variety of both short term and ongoing Bible studies that meet throughout the year. Since these studies have different schedules, contact Josh if you are interested in joining one. Some of the current options are:

  • Men’s Bible Study on Monday mornings at 7:00 am in the coffee bar area.

  • Women’s Bible Study on Monday nights at 6:30 pm in the youth room.

  • Mom’s Bible study with childcare on Thursday mornings at 10:00 am in MTC room 10

    • The MTC is our Ministry Training Center which is the building on the north side of our campus.

  • Congregational studies

    • We offer multiple all-church studies during the seasons of Lent in the Spring and Advent in the Winter as well as during other times of the year.

MIDWEEK

Midweek is our Wednesday night all-church dinner and discipleship from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. While St. Andy’s Kids and St. Andy’s Youth have programming and discipleship for the kids, we offer discipleship opportunities for the adults. Sometimes this is an all-church study and other times we offer multiple classes to choose from. Midweek is offered during the Fall semester as well as during the Spring semester every year. Our Spring 2024 Midweek will start on February 7 and will go through March 13.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES

St. Andrew’s offers a variety of Sunday school options for adults in our Ministry Training Center (MTC), which is the building on the north side of our campus. Currently, we have four classes that meet during the 9:00 am worship service and one class that meets during the 10:30 am worship service. Below is the list and brief description of our current adult Sunday school classes.

  • Discovery Class – The Discovery Class is one of St. Andrew’s original small groups, gathering from 9:15-10:25 on Sunday mornings during the school year in MTC room 1. Join us as we seek to discover how God is working in our everyday lives and continue to grow in our knowledge and relationship with Jesus Christ. We also enjoy fun and fellowship beyond Sunday morning, supporting and caring for each other. We have been blessed with the opportunity to raise our children in the church, and are now on a journey of supporting our adult children and other families as they raise their children in the community of God.

  • F.R.O.G.s Class (Fully Rely On God) – The F.R.O.G.s Class meets in MTC room 2 at 9:00 am most Sunday mornings. We are a community made up of people from various stages of life who enjoy living life together with the goal of growing in our faith. Our class is a fun and casual environment who prioritizes studying the Word of God.

  • Eagles Class – The Eagles Class meets in MTC room 6/7 at 9:00 am on most Sunday mornings. We are a group of mission-minded, youthful adults who gather throughout the year to study the Bible, grow in our faith, build community and support one another.

  • Seekers Class – The Seekers class meets in MTC room 10 at 9:15 am on most Sunday mornings. We originated in 1995 and are still going strong. Our class includes couples and individuals who are typically in their forties and up. Throughout the year we enjoy learning from well-known Christian authors using video series that vary in subject matter, each lasting a few weeks. We also dive into the Easter and Christmas stories each year. This is an easy-going group of people who share a desire to continue walking through the Bible together and sharing the love of Christ.  We serve on mission projects and enjoy other activities as a group where we always have a fun time and make great memories.

  • Koinonia Class – The Koinonia Class meets in MTC room 10 at 10:30 every Sunday morning. Terry Byers and Alan Jones lead a Bible based study and discussion on various topics. The age span in this class is from late 40’s to 90+ years of age, knowledge and experience. We gather after the 10:30 worship service the second Sunday of each month for a pot luck lunch and fellowship in the Community Life Center. Our weekly offering goes to support mission projects at St. Andrew’s and in our community.
