“Our vision remains about people.”- DA Bennett
About four years ago the Administrative Council appointed the Long Range Vision Committee review our vision for St. Andrew’s UMC. The committee reviewed our original vision and found that it is just right. “A loving, caring, overcoming community of faith centered in Jesus Christ”…that is what we are and strive to remain! From the very beginning, our master plan included a sanctuary for worship and facilities for education, fellowship and church activities. With God’s help we built facilities we could afford along the road to fulfill our vision.
Our Prepare the Way campaign is far from over. A dedicated group of ministers on the “Follow Through” team are ready to keep reminding us of the continued road ahead. Our simple, yet powerful prayer…“Lord, what do you want to do through me?”…allows us to be led by our Savior as we try to do His will. The “Follow Through” team contacts new members, encourages support for the campaign, and reports the status of our commitment progress. Soon, you will see our status reports around the church offices and in the bulletins.
We all know the power of prayer. That has been evident from the good things happening in St. Andrew’s. So, how is the campaign doing?
As of February 29, we have received about $160,000.00. However, that is not all! The finance committee reduced our interest rate which removed about $50,000.00 off our current debt. We are also maintaining our regular monthly payments of about $14,000.00. Prayer maximized with action has definitely yielded good results for our campaign. Commitments to this point have exceeded just over $1,000,000.00…an outstanding start to the Prepare the Way campaign!
Our VISION is before us and we can meet our goals by praying and working toward them. See that mountain in the logo? Let’s keep working to crumble it down and we’ll soon have a sanctuary to show our hard work.
By the way, did you notice how crowded it has been at worship service lately?

Do you remember the moment you came to faith in Christ? Not all can remember the exhilaration of that moment when we gave ourselves to Christ, but perhaps we recall subsequent moments that we experienced the presence of the living God dwelling in our souls. This month will be a month to reconnect us to such holy moments.
We will have 4 services over the course of 2 days in celebration of Jesus' rising from the dead. Our Easter worship combines all the pageantry of resurrection without losing the sacredness of the moment. Then the following Sunday, April 15, we will join together as a community of faith to celebrate the public professions of faith of our confirmation class. These students will stand before us and proclaim Jesus is Lord and Savior of their lives. It is such a great occasion that we dress up for this event.
And also, April marks the beginning of General Conference. GC is the official voice of the UMC, and is the place we make important decisions of doctrine, ethics and mission. I invite you to pray for all delegates gathering in Tampa, FL for what will be a historical benchmark in the history of our denomination.
Grace and peace, D.A. dabennett
Hello, friends, I am D.A. Bennett, the senior pastor here at St. Andrew’s. If you are considering a church home, and we are alike, then you may want to know some things about the senior pastor of this congregation. So for better or for worse, here is a bit of information that hopefully is not “too much information” or “overshare”.
The answer to the most asked question of my life is “Donald Adrian”. That is what D.A. stands for. I am a proud native of the great state of Oklahoma, and have lived in several different places. My childhood was spent in rural OK, but our family moved to OKC during my junior high school years.
My wife, Robin, and I have been married since 1987. We have 3 beautiful children – Garrett (1997), Jonathan (2003) and Charis (2005). We met while students at Oklahoma City University. Robin received a degree in accounting, and operates a CPA practice out of our home. My degree is in Religion, and among different academic awards earned, I was the top graduate of the School of Religion in 1983. My Master of Divinity degree was earned in 1986 from Oral Roberts University. Our family enjoys many activities (swimming, fishing, traveling), and have a healthy interest in following the Oklahoma Sooners.
My ministry history includes appointments to Tahlequah (associate pastor), United Campus Ministry (Ada/East Central University) and Will Rogers UMC in Tulsa. In 2000 I was honored with the Francis Asbury Award for contributions to ministry in higher education. In 2006 I was honored to receive the Award of Excellence as Volunteer of the Year from Tulsa Public Schools. For over 20 years I have been involved with Dayspring Camp, a senior high discipleship experience.
St Andrew’s has a brief but meaningful history in South OKC. It is a privilege to serve as the 2nd senior pastor of this outstanding church. Our mission is make disciples of Jesus Christ, and we believe it takes all of us working together to fulfill this mission. If you desire a church that offers exciting worship, emphasizes ministry for all ages, and seeks to serve God by serving our community and the world, then we may be the church family you are looking for.
