- - - ALL CHURCH NEWS - - -

Confirmation 2012: Confirmation refers to the decision a person makes to respond to God's grace with intentional commitment, publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows before the congregation. During confirmation class, confirmands learn about the meaning of Christian faith; the history and teachings of the United Methodist Church; and an explanation of the baptismal and membership vows they will be professing. All children in 6th grade (or older youth who have not gone through confirmation) are encouraged to attend classes beginning Sunday, February 19, from 6:00pm-7:30pm. A parent or guardian MUST attend this first class with their child. REGISTRATION FORMS and class schedules can be found in the Fellowship Area. Pictorial Directory: St. Andrew’s is teaming with Lifetouch to make a new pictorial directory. Portrait sessions will begin Tuesday, February 28. You can make your appointment by following the link on our website www.saokc.org or signing up in the Fellowship Area.

Valentine Banquet: The UMM is hosting their annual Valentine Banquet next Sunday, February 12, at 6:00pm at Willow Creek Country Club. Cost is $25 for adults and $12 for youth and children ages 18 & under. You get your choice of entrée, Prime Rib or Chicken Cordon Bleu, along with all the trimmings. Entertainment is being provided by Edgar Cruz, guitarist extraordinaire! Bring your sweetheart, family and friends! Tickets available in the Fellowship Area!

Children’s Ministry Needs YOU: Children’s Ministry will be hosting an annual review and info meeting TODAY, February 5, at 12:00pm in the CLC. Come and you will walk away with a better understanding of the needs to be met. We’ll cover everything from working behind the scenes to being active and involved with the kids. Please come regardless of your status of kids in the house.

Journey to Hope: St. Andrew’s invites you to join them on a 7-week Journey to Hope. We’ll travel with Jesus to the cross and discover the Hope that can be found in the midst of life’s most difficult circumstances. The journey begins on Ash Wednesday, February 22, with small groups beginning the following week. If you’d like to host a small group or just be a small group participant, sign up now. Sign Up!

- - - CHILDREN’S MINISTRY NEWS - - -

Toddler Time: Toddler Time is our ministry for all children ages birth through kindergarten along with their parents, grandparents, and/or caregivers. We’ll be meeting Monday, February 13, at 10:00am for Valentine story time. We need all participants to bring an empty 5x7” picture frame (or larger) or $1/person. Come and bring a friend!

Explore 34: All 3rd and 4th graders should mark their calendars for Friday, February 17, as we go ice skating at Blazers Ice Centre located at 8000 S. I-35. Cost is $7/person. We will meet at the church at 5:30pm for dinner and some pre-skating fun. We will travel to the rink at 7:15pm and should be back at the church for pick up at 9:45pm. Sign Up!

Club 56: On Saturday, February 18, at 6:00pm all 5th and 6th graders are invited to Game Night at the church. We will eat dinner together and have relays, board games, and sports games of all kinds. Bring your friends!

Family Lenten Study: All children in grades 1-6, along with their parents, are encouraged to be a part of our weekly Lenten study beginning Tuesday, February 28, at 6:00pm. This six week study will focus on Adam Hamilton’s book, “Final Words.” Cost is $10/family.

STUDENT STUFF: All 7th-12th graders are encouraged to attend Sunday School at 9:30am every Sunday morning in the CLC. You can also bring a friend and join us for Impact on Wednesdays at 6:00pm! Souper Bowl Party: All students in grades 7-12 are invited to attend our annual Souper Bowl Party TODAY, February 5, at 5:00pm. There will be food, games, lazer tag, door prizes and tons of fun! Entry fee is 5 soup cans which will be donated to a local food shelter. Guys also need to bring an appetizer or chips and the girls can bring a dessert to share. Everyone can bring a friend!

Small Groups: Small Groups will meet on Sundays, February 19 & 26, from 6:00pm-7:30pm in the CLC of St. Andrew’s. There will be a light snack, some free time, electives classes and panel discussion for students to choose from depending on their interest. Topics include drug and alcohol awareness, prayer, and a mom’s perspective.

Mission Meeting: Anyone interested in missions is encouraged to come to our monthly meeting this Tuesday, February 7, at 7:00pm. We’d love to have you join us!

“B”-ing Women: All women are encouraged to be a part of our women’s group. Events this week include Stitchin’ Star and Knit Wits happening Thursday, February 9, at 6:30pm at the home of Nancy King (2329 Squirrel Place - Tuttle). Bring your own supplies and a snack to share. Come join us!
Mexican Train Dominoes: Anyone 18 years and older is invited to come and play Mexican Train on Friday, February 10, in the MTC (B10). Set-up and snacks begin at 6:30pm and play begins at 7:00pm. Nursery is not provided. Bring a friend and a dessert or appetizer to share. RSVP to Sharlene Lambring at sdlambring@cox.net or 692-9898.

Men’s Spring Retreat: Sign up now for our first men’s retreat! It is happening Friday, April 13 - Saturday, April 14 at Cross Point camp. We will be watching and doing a study on the movie “Courageous.” Cost is $55 which includes lodging, study book and meals (dinner on Friday, breakfast and lunch on Saturday). We will also have time for either golf or fishing. If you are interested in car pooling, let us know. Music & Worship Opportunities: There are many ongoing music and worship opportunities for those who like to sing, play bells, act, help behind-the-scenes, etc. We are looking especially to increase participation in our video ministry! Practice dates and times are listed on the calendar. For more info, contact Ginny Pass at 692-4242, ext. 102.

Music Rehearsals: Hand bell choirs will practice every Tuesday. Tweens meet at 5:00pm and St. Andrew’s bells meet at 6:30pm. Worship choir practices every Wednesday at 7:30pm. Anyone interested in joining these groups is encouraged to come! Sign Up!

Skit Team: Teams of all ages are being created now to prepare skits for worship during the Lenten season. If you’re interested, please sign up or contact Ginny Pass at 692-4242, ext. 102. Sign Up!

Thanksgiving in February: Skyline Urban Ministries reaches out to the hungry in Oklahoma City through its community cupboard. Each year February is the month assigned to St. Andrew's to help stock their shelves. Donations are needed of nonperishable foods, such as canned goods, boxed foods, dried beans, rice, peanut butter/jelly and baby food. Grocery sacks will be handed out throughout the month of February. Filled sacks need to be returned by Sunday, February 26.
