We are off to a strong start in 2012! I pray that all of us continue to consider how we can grow into more maturity in our relationship with Christ. It is God's goal for us (Ephesians 4:13 CEB)! We will continue to consider areas of our faith that are characteristic of spiritual maturity in sermons that lead up to Lent!
As we approach Lent, I want to invite you to be present in our Ash Wednesday service on February 22. This is a season when we truly consider the sacrifice of Christ that leads to God's gift of salvation. If you are able (consult a physician) we ask you to fast prior to that service so that the act of self-denial prepares us to hear the word. Those unable to fast from food may seek another type of fast in preparation.
I also invite you to take on a special prayer emphasis for Lent. During this season students participating in our confirmation class will be considering a profession of faith that is their own. Not all students that have gone through confirmation have chosen to make a public profession of faith. Please pray that they will be clear on what it means to give your life to the One Who gives life to us, and that they will choose a lifestyle of true discipleship. Our students and their families need our prayers as they consider God's gracious invitation into a relationship with Him.
